“In the midst of darkness, light persists.”
I could not go to bed tonight not putting up a post about the magnificent natural phenomenon that occurred today: a total solar eclipse! Note that this is the FIRST one since 99 years ago — a once in a lifetime shift we here are lucky to witness. Whether you captured the beauty of the moment in person (seeing the sky become dark as night for a few minutes in the middle of the day) or just saw pictures later on T.V. or the Internet, let’s all celebrate this literal lineup of the earth, sun, and moon. . .and our own steps toward body-mind-soul alignment.
Whether you’re spiritual, religious, atheist, somewhere in between (or none of the above) — I think we all can agree that there is something greater out there than all of us can ever imagine. Call it the Universe. God — or gods. Science. Mother Nature. Kind humanity. Magic. Whatever term hits home for you doesn’t matter. Just seeing the moon, the sun, and stars (and all the infinite beauty of the outdoors and galaxy) can remind us of how lucky we are to live this life. We all will dance within light and dark times throughout our lives. We are all connected in this mysterious, crazy, beautiful, tragic and miraculous life together.
Feel free to take a look at these two interesting articles from mindbodygreen.com : “The Solar Eclipse On August 21 Will Change Everything” (fascinating contrast between the feminine energy [moon] over the masculine energy [sun]) and “7 Spiritual Practices That Will Take Monday’s Eclipse Up A Notch” (which you try any of these this week/month, whether you’re “spiritual” or not — these are all great tips for actively thinking about your energy and goals for the seasons ahead).
It’s nearly midnight, but I hope you were able to take time to reflect today or tonight. To sink in. Meditate. And realize how all the brightest and darkest moments of your life make you into the “light” that you are!
Bask in the moonlight before a new dawn. If you’re still up (like I am!), maybe melt off to zzz’s with some fitting atmospheric music.
Good night sun, hello moon. Rest easy, everyone!
